- 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (or chopped chocolate)
- 1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)
- 1 teaspoon milk (optional, to thin the egg wash)
- Powdered sugar (for dusting, optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F).

- Roll out the thawed puff pastry sheet slightly on a floured surface.
- Place the pastry on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Score a 2 cm border around the edges of the pastry without cutting through.
- Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly inside the scored border.
- Sprinkle chocolate chips evenly over the cream cheese layer.
- (Optional) Cut diagonal strips along the edges and fold them over in a crisscross pattern for a braided effect.
- Beat the egg with milk and brush the pastry border with this egg wash.
- Bake for 18–22 minutes until the pastry is golden and puffed, and the filling is set.
- Let cool for 10 minutes, then dust with powdered sugar if desired.
