- 1 ripe avocado
- 4 slices of bread (your choice)
- 1 to 1½ cups shredded cheese (cheddar or mozzarella recommended)
- 2 tablespoons butter
- Salt, to taste
- Pepper, to taste
- Optional: squeeze of lemon juice
Instructions
- Cut the avocado in half and remove the pit.
- Scoop the avocado flesh into a bowl and mash it until mostly smooth with some chunks remaining.
- Season the mashed avocado with salt, pepper, and lemon juice if using. Mix well.
- Butter one side of each bread slice evenly.
- Preheat a skillet over medium heat.
- Place one slice of bread, buttered side down, on the skillet.
- Spread a generous layer of mashed avocado on the bread in the skillet.
- Sprinkle the shredded cheese evenly on top of the avocado.
- Place the second slice of bread on top, buttered side up.
- Cook for 3–4 minutes until the bread is golden and crispy.
- Flip carefully and cook the other side for 3–4 minutes until golden and cheese is melted.
- Remove from heat and let rest for 1 minute before slicing and serving.
Notes
Adjust the amount of cheese to your liking for a milder or stronger flavor.
For extra protein, add cooked turkey bacon or chicken ham slices inside before grilling.
Use fresh avocado for best texture and flavor.
Add chili flakes or sliced tomatoes for a flavor twist.
