- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ¾ cup buttermilk
- 1 large egg
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons maple syrup (plus more for dipping)
- Optional toppings: powdered sugar, fresh fruit, chocolate chips, or a maple glaze
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line a mini muffin tin.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, mix buttermilk, egg, melted butter, vanilla extract, and maple syrup until smooth.
- Pour wet ingredients into dry and stir gently until just combined; avoid overmixing.
- Spoon batter into muffin tin cups, filling about ¾ full. Add optional mix-ins if desired.
- Bake for 10–12 minutes or until tops spring back when lightly pressed and a toothpick comes out clean.
- Allow to cool briefly in the pan, then transfer to a wire rack. Serve warm with maple syrup or powdered sugar.
Notes
