Ingredients
- 1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
- 3 cups white chocolate chips (or white melting wafers)
- 1 teaspoon orange extract
- 1 tablespoon orange zest (freshly grated)
- 1 cup vanilla wafer crumbs (or graham cracker crumbs)
- ½ cup powdered sugar
- Optional toppings: extra zest, shredded coconut, or white chocolate for coating
Instructions
- Soften the cream cheese: Place the cream cheese in a large mixing bowl and let it sit at room temperature for about 15–20 minutes until soft and easy to mix.
- Melt the white chocolate: Add the white chocolate chips or chopped wafers to a microwave-safe bowl. Heat in 20-second intervals, stirring each time, until fully melted and smooth. Alternatively, melt using a double boiler.
- Combine base ingredients: Add the melted white chocolate to the softened cream cheese. Mix in the orange extract and orange zest. Stir until smooth and creamy.
- Incorporate dry ingredients: Add the vanilla wafer crumbs and powdered sugar to the mixture. Stir until fully blended and thick. The mixture should be soft but not sticky.
- Chill the mixture: Cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes. Chilling will firm up the mixture, making it easier to roll into truffles.
- Form truffles: Remove from the fridge and scoop out small portions of the dough. Roll each portion between your palms to form smooth, round balls.
- Optional coating: Roll each truffle in shredded coconut, extra zest, or dip in melted white chocolate for a glossy finish. Place coated truffles on parchment paper.
- Chill again (if coated): If dipped in white chocolate, place the truffles in the refrigerator for 10–15 minutes until the coating sets.
- Serve or store: Serve immediately or refrigerate in an airtight container. Best enjoyed chilled for maximum flavor and texture.
Notes
You may substitute graham cracker crumbs if vanilla wafers are not available.
Adjust the intensity of orange flavor by adding more zest if desired.
For a firmer truffle, increase the amount of cookie crumbs slightly.
Avoid adding juice, as it can soften the truffle base too much.
Truffles can be frozen and thawed before serving.
