Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 egg
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Powdered sugar, for dusting
- Non-stick cooking spray
Instructions
- Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 5 minutes to ensure even cooking.
- Combine the dry ingredients: In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt until fully mixed.
- Whisk the wet ingredients: In a separate bowl, beat the egg, then add milk and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.
- Make the batter: Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients. Stir gently until the batter is just combined. It should be slightly thick with some lumps.
- Prepare the air fryer basket: Lightly coat it with non-stick cooking spray to prevent sticking.
- Pipe or spoon the batter: Transfer the batter into a piping bag (or a zip-top bag with the corner cut off). Pipe small circles or dollops into the basket. Each piece should be about 1–1.5 teaspoons. Leave space between each bite to allow room for rising.
- Air fry the bites: Cook at 375°F (190°C) for 5–6 minutes, or until golden and puffed. For even cooking, gently shake the basket halfway through (optional).
- Dust and serve: Once cooked, place the bites on a cooling rack or plate. Dust generously with powdered sugar while still warm. Serve immediately with your favorite sweet dips or toppings.
Notes
Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket—cook in batches if needed.
Add a pinch of cinnamon to the batter for extra flavor.
For a sweeter version, top with chocolate sauce, caramel drizzle, or whipped cream.
Keep an eye on cooking time—bites can overcook quickly.
