Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 cloves garlic, minced (or 1 teaspoon garlic powder)
- 1 tablespoon mixed dried herbs (such as thyme, rosemary, oregano, or parsley)
- 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or preferred type)
- 1 cup milk
- 1/4 cup olive oil (or melted butter)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a standard loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, garlic, and dried herbs. Stir thoroughly to mix all dry ingredients.
- Add the shredded cheese to the flour mixture. Toss gently to distribute the cheese evenly throughout.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk and olive oil until well blended.
- Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients. Mix using a spatula or wooden spoon until a thick, sticky dough forms. Do not overmix.
- Transfer the dough to the prepared loaf pan. Spread it evenly and smooth the top with a spatula if needed.
- Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Remove from the oven and allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before removing. Let it rest on a wire rack until fully cooled before slicing.
Notes
Fresh herbs can be used instead of dried — use 3 tablespoons chopped fresh herbs in place of 1 tablespoon dried.
Cheese options like gouda, parmesan, or a mixed blend can offer varied flavor profiles.
This bread is excellent as a side with soups, salads, or grilled meats.
The texture is best enjoyed fresh but also works well when toasted the next day.
