- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder

- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 ¼ cups granulated sugar

- ¾ cup milk
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
- In a medium bowl, sift together flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- In a large bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each.
- Alternately add dry ingredients and milk to the butter mixture, beginning and ending with dry ingredients. Mix gently until just combined.
- Pour batter into prepared pan and smooth the surface.
- Bake for 35–40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Cool in pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before serving.
Notes
Avoid overmixing the batter to maintain a tender crumb.
Customize with nuts or dried fruit for added texture.
Serve with whipped cream or caramel drizzle for extra indulgence.
