Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- ¾ cup brown sugar
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, beat softened butter with brown and granulated sugars until light and fluffy.
- Add vanilla extract and milk to the butter mixture; beat until combined.
- Gradually mix dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until dough forms; avoid overmixing.
- Fold in chocolate chips gently.
- Divide dough into small portions; roll each into a 6-inch rope and twist.
- Place twists on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them evenly.
- Bake for 12–15 minutes until edges are golden but centers remain soft.
- Cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes; transfer to wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Chilling the dough briefly can help maintain twist shapes during baking.
Feel free to substitute chocolate chips with other mix-ins like nuts or dried fruit.
Use plant-based butter and milk alternatives for a dairy-free version.
Store twists in an airtight container to keep them fresh.
