Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon cumin
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 4 chalupa shells (store-bought or homemade)
- 1 cup shredded lettuce
- 1 cup diced tomatoes
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- ½ cup diced onions
- ¼ cup sliced black olives
- ¼ cup sour cream
- ¼ cup salsa or mild taco sauce
Instructions
- Cook the Beef: Heat a skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook, breaking it up with a spoon. Add chili powder, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, salt, and pepper. Stir frequently until beef is fully browned. Drain excess fat if necessary.
- Prepare Chalupa Shells: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly brush shells with oil and bake for 5–7 minutes until golden and crisp. If using store-bought shells, follow package instructions.
- Prep Toppings: Dice tomatoes, shred lettuce and cheese, slice olives, and dice onions. Set sour cream and salsa aside.
- Assemble Chalupas: Place chalupa shell flat. Spoon beef evenly into shell. Layer lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and olives. Sprinkle cheese on top. Finish with sour cream and salsa.
- Serve: Garnish with fresh cilantro or lime if desired. Serve immediately for best texture and flavor.
