This quick and easy bread recipe is designed for busy days when you still want the comfort of homemade bread. With simple ingredients, minimal kneading, and short rising times, it delivers fresh, fluffy, and delicious bread in under two hours.

  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 8 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons instant yeast
  • 1 ½ teaspoons salt
  • 1 ½ cups warm water
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Optional: seeds, dried herbs, or spices for flavor

Instructions

  1. Gather all your ingredients, including any optional seeds or herbs if you want extra flavor.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, yeast, and salt. Mix well to ensure the yeast is evenly spread through the flour.
  3. Slowly pour the warm water into the bowl, followed by the olive oil. Stir with a wooden spoon until the dough comes together.
  4. Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead gently for 2 to 3 minutes until smooth and soft. Add more flour if sticky or a tablespoon of water if dry.
  5. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 30 to 40 minutes, until doubled in size.
  6. Once risen, punch down the dough to release air. Shape it into a round loaf, small rolls, or a longer loaf depending on preference. Place it on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
  7. Allow the shaped dough to rise for another 15 minutes while preheating your oven to 200°C (400°F).
  8. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes until the crust is golden brown and the bread sounds hollow when tapped underneath.
  9. Remove from the oven and let cool on a wire rack for at least 10 minutes before slicing.

Notes

Add sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, or flax seeds for extra crunch and nutrition.

For a softer loaf, replace some of the water with warm milk.

Brush the top with olive oil before baking for a rustic golden crust.
