This Coconut Lime Fish with Garlic Butter is a vibrant and flavorful dish that combines tender, flaky fish with a rich garlic butter sauce and the tropical freshness of coconut and lime. It’s quick to prepare, versatile, and perfect for both weeknight dinners and special occasions.

  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 4 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • Fresh white fish fillets (such as cod or tilapia)
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup coconut milk
  • Zest and juice of 2 limes
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Pat fish fillets dry and season both sides with salt and pepper. Optional: add paprika or chili flakes.
  2. Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1–2 minutes until fragrant.
  3. Increase heat slightly and sear the fish fillets 3–4 minutes per side until golden and tender.
  4. Reduce heat to medium-low and pour in coconut milk. Stir in lime zest and juice. Cook 3–4 minutes until sauce is smooth and slightly thickened.
  5. Return fish to the skillet, spoon sauce over fillets, and simmer gently 2–3 minutes. Adjust seasoning if needed.
  6. Remove from heat and sprinkle with fresh parsley. Serve immediately with rice, quinoa, or vegetables.

Notes

Use firm white fish for best results.

Adjust garlic and lime to taste.

For a dairy-free option, substitute butter with coconut oil.
