  • 2 cups chicken or vegetable broth

  • ½ cup milk

  • Optional add-ins: cooked vegetables, cooked chicken, diced turkey bacon

Instructions

  1. Rinse 1 cup of long-grain rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine 2 cups of chicken or vegetable broth with 1 tablespoon of butter. Bring to a gentle boil over medium heat.
  3. Add the rinsed rice to the boiling broth and stir once. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15–18 minutes. Do not lift the lid during cooking.
  4. Check if the rice is tender and liquid is absorbed. Cook an extra 2–3 minutes if needed.
  5. Remove the saucepan from heat. Stir in ½ cup milk, then 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese until fully melted and creamy.
  6. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Optionally, add garlic powder or paprika.
  7. Mix in optional add-ins like cooked vegetables, chicken, or turkey bacon.
  8. Garnish with chopped parsley or chives and serve immediately.
