Ingredients
- 1 cup self-rising flour (plus extra for dusting)
- 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- Optional toppings: sesame seeds, poppy seeds, or everything bagel seasoning
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine self-rising flour, baking powder, and salt. Stir well.
- Add Greek yogurt to the dry mixture. Mix with a spatula until the dough begins to come together.
- Lightly flour your work surface. Transfer the dough and knead gently with your hands until smooth. Avoid over-kneading.
- Divide the dough into four equal portions. Roll each portion into a ball.
- Poke a hole in the center of each ball with your finger and gently stretch it into a bagel shape.
- Place the shaped bagels on the prepared baking sheet.
- Whisk the egg in a small bowl. Brush the tops of the bagels with the egg wash.
- Sprinkle toppings of your choice over the bagels.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed.
- Remove from the oven and let cool slightly on a wire rack before serving.
Notes
For a savory twist, add garlic powder or dried herbs to the dough.
For a sweet version, mix cinnamon and sugar into the flour and sprinkle coarse sugar on top.
