  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: 4 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup self-rising flour (plus extra for dusting)
  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • Optional toppings: sesame seeds, poppy seeds, or everything bagel seasoning

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine self-rising flour, baking powder, and salt. Stir well.
  3. Add Greek yogurt to the dry mixture. Mix with a spatula until the dough begins to come together.
  4. Lightly flour your work surface. Transfer the dough and knead gently with your hands until smooth. Avoid over-kneading.
  5. Divide the dough into four equal portions. Roll each portion into a ball.
  6. Poke a hole in the center of each ball with your finger and gently stretch it into a bagel shape.
  7. Place the shaped bagels on the prepared baking sheet.
  8. Whisk the egg in a small bowl. Brush the tops of the bagels with the egg wash.
  9. Sprinkle toppings of your choice over the bagels.
  10. Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed.
  11. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly on a wire rack before serving.

Notes

For a savory twist, add garlic powder or dried herbs to the dough.

For a sweet version, mix cinnamon and sugar into the flour and sprinkle coarse sugar on top.

Toast leftovers for the best flavor after storage.
