- 4 medium cucumbers, peeled and sliced into rounds or sticks
- 2 tablespoons lime juice (freshly squeezed)
- 1 tablespoon chili powder (adjust to taste)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro (optional)
- 1 small tomato, finely diced (optional)
Instructions
- Wash cucumbers thoroughly under cold running water. Peel if desired and slice into rounds or sticks.
- In a small bowl, mix lime juice, chili powder, salt, sugar, and black pepper until sugar dissolves.
- Place cucumber slices in a large mixing bowl. Pour seasoning over cucumbers. Toss gently to coat evenly.
- Add chopped cilantro and diced tomato if using, stirring to combine.
- Let cucumbers sit for 10–15 minutes at room temperature or up to 30 minutes in the refrigerator to absorb flavors.
- Taste and adjust seasoning as needed, adding more salt, lime juice, or chili powder according to preference.
- Serve immediately or chilled.
Notes
For uniform slices, use a mandoline slicer.
Adjust chili powder to control the spice level.
For added sweetness or crunch, include fruits like mango or vegetables like jicama.
Best served within 24 hours to maintain crispness.
