Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef sausage
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 can (10 oz) Rotel diced tomatoes and green chilies, drained
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 1/4 tsp salt (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
- In a large bowl, combine the softened cream cheese and ground beef sausage. Mix thoroughly until smooth.
- Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese and drained Rotel tomatoes and green chilies. Ensure ingredients are evenly distributed.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry mixture to the sausage mixture. Fold together until a firm but slightly sticky dough forms.
- Scoop out portions and roll into 1-inch balls. Place them evenly on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through. Rotate the pan halfway for even baking.
- Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly before serving.
Notes
You can freeze the unbaked sausage balls for later. Bake directly from frozen, adding a few extra minutes.
Substitute cheddar with other cheeses like pepper jack or mozzarella for variation.
Adjust spice levels by adding more or fewer chilies or a pinch of cayenne pepper.
