Delicious drinking caramel recipe with detailed instructions and nutritional information.

  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream, fresh
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Gather your tools: you'll need a medium saucepan, a whisk, and a heat-resistant spatula.
  2. In your medium saucepan, mix 1 cup of granulated sugar with 1/4 cup of water over medium heat. Stir gently until the sugar dissolves completely.
  3. Once dissolved, stop stirring and let it cook undisturbed until it turns a lovely amber color—about 8-10 minutes.
  4. As soon as you achieve that golden hue, remove the pan from heat and immediately add 6 tablespoons of unsalted butter. Whisk vigorously until fully melted.
  5. Next up, pour in 1/2 cup of heavy cream while whisking continuously. Continue whisking until smooth.
  6. Finally, stir in 1 teaspoon of sea salt and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Taste and adjust if necessary.

Notes

Store in an airtight container.

Reheat gently on low heat.

Serve over ice cream sundaes.

Add a pinch of salt.
