Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup water
- 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, at room temperature
- 1/2 cup heavy cream, fresh
- 1 teaspoon sea salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Gather your tools: you'll need a medium saucepan, a whisk, and a heat-resistant spatula.
- In your medium saucepan, mix 1 cup of granulated sugar with 1/4 cup of water over medium heat. Stir gently until the sugar dissolves completely.
- Once dissolved, stop stirring and let it cook undisturbed until it turns a lovely amber color—about 8-10 minutes.
- As soon as you achieve that golden hue, remove the pan from heat and immediately add 6 tablespoons of unsalted butter. Whisk vigorously until fully melted.
- Next up, pour in 1/2 cup of heavy cream while whisking continuously. Continue whisking until smooth.
- Finally, stir in 1 teaspoon of sea salt and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Taste and adjust if necessary.
