Ingredients
- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 1 large egg (plus 1 for brushing)
- ¼ cup cold milk
- 4 slices turkey bacon, cooked and diced
- 4 slices chicken ham, diced
- ½ cup shredded cheese (cheddar or preferred variety)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional herbs: chives, parsley, or others for extra flavor
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine flour and a pinch of salt. Cut in cold butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Add 1 beaten egg and milk gradually, mixing until dough forms. Avoid overworking.
- Form dough into a disk, wrap in plastic, and chill for at least 30 minutes.
- Cook turkey bacon until crisp, dice along with chicken ham. Scramble eggs lightly with salt, pepper, and herbs. Allow to cool.
- Roll dough on a floured surface into a 1/8-inch thick rectangle. Cut into squares or rectangles.
- Spoon filling onto half of the dough pieces, leaving a border. Brush edges with beaten egg.
- Place remaining dough pieces on top, pressing edges with a fork to seal. Poke small holes on top.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush tops with egg wash.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes until golden brown. Cool slightly before serving.
Notes
Customize fillings with vegetables, different cheeses, or herbs.
Can be frozen before or after baking.
