Ingredients
Scale
- 1 loaf stale bread, preferably French or brioche
- 4 eggs, fresh
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1 can sweetened condensed milk
- 1 can evaporated milk
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- sugar to taste
- cream or whipped topping (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease a large baking dish (about 9×13 inches) lightly with butter or non-stick spray.
- In a large bowl, whisk together four eggs until they are frothy.
- Add in one cup of whole milk, one can of sweetened condensed milk, one can of evaporated milk, two teaspoons of vanilla extract, and two teaspoons of ground cinnamon.
- Stir until all ingredients are well combined and smooth.
- Cut stale bread into cubes (about 1-inch pieces).
- Place the bread cubes into your greased baking dish.
- Pour the custard mixture evenly over the bread cubes.
- Gently press down on the cubes with a spatula or spoon so every piece soaks up the liquid.
- Cover your baking dish with aluminum foil and place it in the preheated oven.
- Bake for 30 minutes covered, then remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until golden brown on top and set in the center.
- Remove from the oven and allow it to cool slightly for about 10-15 minutes.
- Cut into squares and serve warm!
- Top each piece with whipped cream or your favorite fruit if desired.
