Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, unsweetened cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  4. In another bowl, beat together softened unsalted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  5. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  6. Stir in vanilla extract.
  7. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until fully combined.
  8. Fold in dried cherries and chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
  9. Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop mounds of dough onto the prepared baking sheets about two inches apart.
  10. Bake in the preheated oven for about 10-12 minutes until edges are firm but centers are still soft.
  11. Cool on baking sheets for a couple of minutes before transferring them to wire racks.
  12. Garnish with extra dried cherries sprinkled over top while they are still warm.
