Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups Rice Chex Cereal
- 1 cup Caramel Sauce
- 1 cup Diced Apples, firm varieties like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp
- 1 cup Powdered Sugar
- 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
- 1/2 cup Chopped Nuts (Optional), toasted
Instructions
- Gather all your ingredients and tools and ensure you have a large mixing bowl ready.
- Preheat your oven to 200°F if you're using nuts.
- If you’re adding nuts, spread them evenly on a baking sheet and toast them in the preheated oven for about 5-7 minutes until fragrant.
- In a microwave-safe bowl, combine your caramel sauce with 1 tablespoon of water. Heat in short bursts of 30 seconds, stirring in between until it’s smooth and pourable.
- In your large mixing bowl, add Rice Chex cereal and diced apples. Pour the melted caramel over them slowly while gently folding everything together to avoid crushing the cereal.
- Sprinkle powdered sugar and cinnamon over your mixture while tossing everything lightly until evenly coated.
- Fold in your toasted nuts if you're using them. Give everything one last gentle toss ensuring those lovely crunchy bits are well distributed throughout your snack mix.
- Serve immediately or store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week.
