  • 1 cup crab meat, fresh or canned
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs, dry
  • 2 green onions, finely chopped
  • ½ cup mayonnaise, full-fat or light
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice, freshly squeezed
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon agar-agar powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine crab meat, panko breadcrumbs, finely chopped green onions, mayonnaise, freshly squeezed lemon juice, Dijon mustard, cayenne pepper, paprika, and agar-agar powder. Stir until well mixed.
  3. Using your hands, scoop out about two tablespoons of the mixture at a time and shape them into small patties or nuggets. Place them on your prepared baking sheet about an inch apart.
  4. Bake in your preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes or until they turn golden brown and crispy on top.
  5. Once baked to perfection, remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving. Garnish with additional chopped green onions or dip into your favorite sauce if desired. Serve warm.
  6. Garnish with fresh herbs like parsley or dill if desired. Enjoy immediately while they are still crisp.
